Bell Tower Festival fun continues on Sunday as the Greene County conservation board hosts the annual Kids Fishing Derby at Spring Lake Park just west of County Road P-33 on 195th St northwest of Grand Junction. The fun begins at 1 pm at the skating rink at the park.
Children ages 0 to 15 are eligible for the derby. There will be three age divisions and pries will be awarded to the children in each age division who catch the biggest fish.
Someone from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will give a short presentation about safety and other fishing matters before children head to the lake. Children are welcome to bring their own rods and reels, although some will be available there for use.
Pre-registration can be done at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson, and same-day on-site registration is also available.
